The Toyota Prius Just Got Bigger and Better. And It's Still Green

The proud manufacturers of Toyota vehicles are excited to unveil a host of new Prius models that will make your life easier while still maintaining its green seal of approval. The introduction of these models will mark the beginning of a family of environmentally-responsible Prius hybrids that are all capable of providing exceptional fuel efficiency with impressive MPG records.

The latest addition to the Prius brand is the Prius V, a crossover that will be available by this summer. V for "versatility," this model features 60% more cargo space than today's third generation Prius. The extra room comes as a bonus for growing families since the Prius V continues to offer low fuel emissions, as well as the best mileage of any car in its class with an estimated 42 MPG in the city and 38 MPG on the highway. This roomier hybrid also comes standard with a back-up camera and Toyota's new Entune infotainment system.

A smaller version of the third generation Prius will make its way to dealerships in early 2012. Known as the Prius C, this four-passenger sedan showcases an aerodynamic and edgy design and is predicted to cover an average 54 to 55 MPG. It is also the most affordable of the Prius models.

The final installment in the Prius line of hybrids is the Prius Plug-In, a model that is equipped with a rechargeable plug-in battery and gasoline engine. Extremely fuel efficient, the Prius Plug-In can run solely on electric power for up to 13 miles. It only takes about three hours to charge the battery on a standard 110-volt outlet and even less time is needed when using a 220- or 240-volt outlet.
