2022 Toyota Tacoma vs the Competition in El Cajon, CA
2022 Toyota Tacoma (left) and the 2022 Honda Ridgeline RTL-E in Radiant Red Metallic II (right) shown above with available features.
In terms of midsize pickup trucks, we are here to present to you the 2022 Toyota Tacoma and its competition at Toyota of El Cajon through this summary. From the cabin to its performance features, this automobile boasts better features overall. See with your own eyes!
Honda Ridgeline
Starting with the 2022 Honda Ridgeline, there’s something to be said of its engine hiding under the hood. It carries a standard 3.5L V6 system with 280 horsepower1 and 262 lb.-ft. of torque2 when it activates and burns fuel. The Tacoma has an optional 2.7L 4-cylinder engine that gives out 159 horsepower and 180 lb.-ft. of torque, and its available 3.5L V6 version3 has 278 horsepower and 265 lb.-ft. of torque. However, there is also something to note regarding the superior pulling power of the Tacoma. It flaunts a 6,800-lb. maximum towing capacity4 for you to rely on. Its competitor only gives a 5,000-lb. maximum towing limit5.
2022 Chevrolet Colorado
When you’ve sat in the 2022 Tacoma for hours, it is only necessary to have all the space inside the cabin you need. In comparison with our second vehicle, the 2022 Chevrolet Colorado, it has a better chance of helping you unwind. The Tacoma boasts 57.2 inches of front hip room, while the Chevrolet has 55.0 inches of this space. Moreover, the former brings 58.9 inches of rear shoulder room to the table, while the Colorado doesn’t have as much wiggle room with its small 57.3 inches of rear shoulder room. In terms of how safe you’ll feel, it is clear that the Tacoma is a more secure vehicle for you to ride in with its standard Dynamic Radar Cruise Control6. Unfortunately, the Colorado doesn’t have Adaptive Cruise Control7.
Nissan Frontier
It is clear so far that the Tacoma is the winner of all the vehicles we’ve discussed so far. Just to solidify this thought, let’s add one more competitor to our summary, which would be the 2022 Nissan Frontier. Standard Automatic High Beams8 are given to you by the Tacoma, while the Frontier only boasts an available High Beam Assist with its features. The Frontier can only help you stand tall with optional 17-inch wheels. However, the Toyota will help you rise higher above the crowd with its available 18-inch wheels versions that you can choose from. Finally, the Tacoma has standard Lane Departure Alert9, but the Frontier requires that you upgrade to the available Lane Departure Warning10 if you want this for yourself.

They had it ready an hour early, and texted me when it was ready. Despite it being a busy Saturday, I never had to wait more than 2 minutes for someone to help me. “ I purchased a Base model Tacoma from this dealership in 2017, so it has been a 9 year relationship. 80,000 and all service performed here at Toyota of El Cajon. Great dealership. That's why its crowded. But they are super professional from greeter to advisor. My last Advisor was Jonathan. Excellent service ”

Great service always, professional employees aiming to
“ Great service always, professional employees aiming to please, I would rate 5 stars, if free!! ”
“ Nice facility but nearly 3 hours for the Toyota Care 15K service is unacceptable. Basically rotate tires and check/top off fluids. My buddy recently had a knee replacement and the actual surgery took 1 hour. Why does it take almost 3 hours for a simple 15K service when you can get a complex knee surgery completed in an hour. Doesn't make sense to anyone with common sense🤷♂️ ”
“ Went to this dealership to check out a specific used truck. Photos online weren’t up yet for the vehicle, and the description mentioned some aftermarket additions. So I wanted to see it for myself. When I showed up to the lot and went to look at the truck, a salesman came out. After a quick once over I decided I didn’t want the vehicle. The salesman started telling me “well you saw the description online, didn’t you?” like I was an idiot for wasting his time and asked why I wasn’t interested anymore. I guess when I’m looking at a vehicle I don’t feel like being questioned or interrogated by a salesman as to why I don’t want that vehicle anymore. Not sure why he thought this sales tactic was going to be effective, but it immediately prompted me to leave. I’ve had good experiences with their service department but Toyota of El Cajon will definitely not be where I purchase my next vehicle. ”

3. The Toyota Tacoma is designed to meet most off-road driving requirements, but off-roading is inherently dangerous and may result in vehicle damage. Toyota encourages responsible operation to help protect you, your vehicle and the environment. Seatbelts should be worn at all times. Do not allow passengers to ride in cargo area.
4. Before towing, confirm your vehicle and trailer are compatible, hooked up and loaded properly and that you have any necessary additional equipment. Do not exceed any Weight Ratings and follow all instructions in your Owner’s Manual. The maximum you can tow depends on base curb weight plus the total weight of any cargo, occupants, and added vehicle equipment. “Added vehicle equipment” includes additional standard/optional equipment and accessories added by the manufacturer, dealers, and/or vehicle owners. The only way to be certain of your vehicle’s exact curb weight is to weigh your vehicle without passengers or cargo. [Calculated with the new SAE J2807 method.] Installation of a tow hitch receiver or other accessories located near the rear bumper may require disabling or removing the kick sensor, and the sensor operation setting in your vehicle should be turned off. See Owner’s Manual for limitations.
5. Maximum towing capacity is 5,000 lbs. Towing requires accessory towing equipment. Please see your Honda dealer for details.
6. Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) is designed to assist the driver and is not a substitute for safe and attentive driving practices. System effectiveness is dependent on many factors including road, weather and traffic conditions. DRCC not available on manual transmissions. See Owner’s Manual for additional limitations and details.
7. Safety or driver assistance features are no substitute for the driver's responsibility to operate the vehicle in a safe manner. The driver should remain attentive to traffic, surroundings and road conditions at all times. Visibility, weather and road conditions may affect feature performance. Read the vehicle's Owner's Manual for more important feature limitations and information.
8. Automatic High Beams operate at speeds above 25 mph. Factors such as a dirty windshield, weather, lighting and terrain limit effectiveness, requiring the driver to manually operate the high beams. See Owner’s Manual for additional limitations and details.
9. Lane Departure Alert is designed to read visible lane markers under certain conditions, and provide visual and audible alerts when lane departure is detected. It is not a collision-avoidance system or a substitute for safe and attentive driving. Effectiveness is dependent on many factors including road, weather and vehicle conditions. See Owner’s Manual for additional limitations and details.
10. Lane Departure Warning only operates when lane markings are able to be detected. See Owner’s Manual for safety information.
